What caliche is and why it’s everywhere in the West Valley

Caliche (pronounced kah-LEE-chee) is a naturally occurring layer of calcium carbonate that accumulates in arid soils over thousands of years. When trenchless sewer replacement changes the math entirely

Trenchless pipe bursting is the most significant development in West Valley sewer replacement from a cost perspective for exactly this reason: it eliminates the need to excavate the full length of the sewer lateral and therefore eliminates the cost of breaking through caliche along the full trench length.
